The Warehouse Associate plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the warehouse, supporting the collection, processing, and preparation of materials for secure destruction or recycling. This role ensures that materials are handled efficiently and accurately to meet customer expectations and operational goals.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Material Handling & Processing
  • Receive, inspect, and organize incoming materials
  • Sort and stage materials for shredding, destruction, or recycling
  • Prepare materials for processing according to company procedures
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment
  • Follow all safety protocols related to lifting, stacking, and handling materials
  • Equipment & Tools
  • Operate warehouse equipment in accordance with company procedures
  • Ensure proper use, care, and reporting of any tools and equipment assigned
  • Forklift experience is a plus
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Follow company safety protocols and OSHA standards
  • Maintain awareness of safety practices in a warehouse setting
  • Report hazards, equipment issues, or operational concerns to the supervisor
  • Participate in safety training and drills as required
  • Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of materials handled, processed, or moved
  • Document any incidents, maintenance needs, or workflow issues
  • Assist in tracking inventory and reporting discrepancies to management
  • Teamwork & Support
  • Collaborate with supervisors, drivers, and other warehouse staff to ensure smooth operations
  • Assist with ad hoc operational tasks as requested by supervisors
  • Model a positive, customer-first attitude in all interactions
  • Material Handling & Processing
  • Unload documents, media, and products from trucks for shredding
  • Shred documents, media, and products as directed
  • Sort and stage materials for processing according to company procedures
  • Assist in maintaining warehouse machines and basic maintenance tasks
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment
  • Clean and organize warehouse workstations
  • Customer Support
  • Assist local customers as needed, providing excellent service in line with SSER values
  • Goal Setting & Teamwork
  • Work toward warehouse goals and performance targets
  • Collaborate with supervisors and warehouse staff to ensure smooth operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Required skills and qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and team members
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic understanding of warehouse operations, logistics, and light maintenance
  • Knowledge of hand tools, pallet jack, and forklift experience is a plus
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and physical stamina
  • Basic computer skills for inventory and reporting purposes
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to follow instructions
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols
  • Ability to lift and move moderate weights, stand, and walk for extended periods

  • Exposure to moderate noise levels in warehouse operations
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment once trained
  • Passing a background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle check is required
